UKB COUNCILOR EDDIE SACKS 1972-2024



Eddie Sacks, 51, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, June 6, 2024 with his loving family at his side. He was born July 12, 1972 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Charley Cherokee and Sharon Kay (Pathkiller) Sacks. Eddie attended public schools and graduated from Vian High School with the class of 1990. After his graduation from high school, Eddie became a member of the United States Army proudly serving his country beginning in 1995. He received an honorable discharge after 3 years, 4 months, and 5 days of service. He married the love of his life, Melissa Dawn Gambler on August 4, 2000 in Bentonville, Arkansas. They shared more than 23 years of life, marriage, and memories together. Eddie furthered his education receiving his associates degree from Bacone College in 2003 and his bachelor's degree from Northeastern State University in 2007.


He served as a tribal councilor for the United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians in Oklahoma where Eddie has the distinction of being the longest serving councilmember on the UKB Council.


Eddie will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his father, Charley Sacks.


Eddie is survived by his loving wife, Melissa; his daughters, Melissa Kay Sacks and Cherokee Lynn Sacks, all of the home; his mother, Sharon Sacks of Muldrow; his siblings, Charley Sacks of Warner, Curtis Sacks of Kansas, Melvin Sacks of OKC, Raymond Sacks of Iowa, James Pathkiller of Sallisaw, Anthony Sacks of Tulsa, Jackie Wiedel of Tulsa, Sharron Sacks of Altus, Linda Sacks of California, Casey Sacks of Muldrow, and Lorraine Sacks of Tulsa; along with many other family members and friends. A celebration of Eddie’s life will be at 2PM, Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with military honors being presented. Mr. James Pathkiller to officiate.
