Tribal Government

The United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians in Oklahoma is a sovereign nation that is federally recognized by the U.S. government. It has its own chief, officials, elected representatives and ambassadors. Our constitution and bylaws were ratified on October 3,1950.

Tribal Officials

The United Keetoowah Band is governed by the UKB Tribal Council, the supreme governing body. On the council sits four officers including the chief, assistant chief, treasurer and secretary, as well as nine district representatives. Officers are elected every four years, while representatives are elected every two. For the current council list, please click the button.

Ambassadors

The United Keetoowah Band has traditionally selected two ambassadors to represent the tribe each year - Miss Keetoowah and Jr. Miss Keetoowah. To learn more about our current ambassador, click the button.
